Summary of Events
Girls2Women-VA held our first major fundraiser on April 13, 2024 and we are delighted to announce that it was a success!
Held at the American Legion Auxiliary #186 on Otterdale Road, we hosted over 80 guests at this fundraiser, comprised of sponsors, community partners, family, and friends. This fundraiser served as not only a means to raise funds to strengthen our circles and support our mentees, but also G2W-VA's becoming.
G2W-VA is still a very small, but growing organization. As our first major fundraiser, there was a lot of learning that occurred amongst our board in making this event the success that it was.
Between finding and setting up the venue, collecting sponsors, organizing the silent auction and raffle, selling tickets, and so much more, our board was hard at work ensuring that Spring Fling was a success!
The vision at the end was our mentees - everything we do is in support of our them, ensuring that we continue the work of creating safe, enriching environments for their growth and enrichment!
The fundraiser featured music from the Wayward Bills and food from EAT, JoJo's Famous NY Style Pizza and Subs, Nancy's Cookies, Toast, BK's Loaded Kitchen, and La Cucina. Outside, we had a beer truck from Richbrau Brewing and wine from RNDC.
The silent auction featured several exciting gift baskets, assembled by our board. Some of our favorites were:
Spa Day Basket, a $125 value featuring a gift card to Massage Envy, a satin sleep set, bath pillow, eye masks, and many other self-care items
Pickleball Basket, a $350 value featuring a gift card to Bangers and Dinks Indoor Pickleball club and a pickle ball set
Mother's Day Basket, a $175 value featuring a massage gift card to Hand and Stone and several pieces of Stella and Dot jewelry
More of our favorite baskets included the Movie Night basket, Coffee Lovers basket, and Kids YES Day basket; all baskets were sold to several lucky winners!
We heard from several board members about their experience with G2W-VA, including Frenchi Jones (Southside Coordinator, mentor), Cedricka Alexander (Social Media and Marketing, mentor), Rhonda Griffin (Community Outreach and Networking, mentor), and Jo Downey (Community Outreach and Networking, mentor). They spoke about their "why", or their reason for deciding to join the organization and what they enjoy most about being mentors for G2W-VA!

Our community sponsors/partners included Mr. and Mrs. John Jurgens, Midlothian Family Dentist, Jamie Strum Realty, Chris Weller of Edward Jones, Wild Ginger, Norman Staples Contracting, Mr. and Mrs. Michael Bumarch, and Swift Creek Animal Hospital and Pet Resort.

Blaine Gregaitis for serving as security
Stephon Lawrence for helping acquire brand items
In total, G2W-VA raised over $6,000 for our organization!
The theme of "Spring Fling" was fitting, as Spring is the time of the year when things become anew and grow into something even more beautiful than before! Since our fundraiser, our organization continues to grow tremendously. We have come from Spring Fling a stronger organization, better equipped with the tools and resources necessary to establish ourselves as an organization.
Because of its great success, we are establishing Spring Fling as an annual event every Spring! Subscribe to our mailing list and follow us on our social media pages so you are one of the first to know when Spring Fling will be next year!
Finally, we again want to thank our community for helping us make Spring Fling the event that it was! We look forward to seeing everyone at next years Spring Fling!
